The Terrible Toolbox v0

The Terrible Toolbox v0

I signed up for a class with Erik Curtis on hand tool joinery. It's bring your own tools! But I have no way of transporting them. My first idea was to build storage into something like Rex Krueger's saw bench, but that didn't seem pratical or portable. I decided instead to try and riff on Mike Pekovich's traveling tool chest, only bad.

The class was great, and I had a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to taking something else with him, ideally where we make something - when I'm somewhat better.

I hacked this "tool" "chest" together in a couple of days, and on little sleep, but it took way too long and I hate it. I did manage to make lots of mistakes while making it, and burn some plywood, and have to clean my table saw blade at least twice, so I had that going for me.

Anyway, it didn't fall apart when I carried it down the stairs, from the car to the class, and back again. I'll give it that.

It did weigh 15 lbs before I put anything in it, and 34 after. So that was cool.

My original idea was to be able to fit a panel saw in it. I gave up on that pretty quickly, thankfully. I ran out of time to even finish it. It was supposed to have another drawer and a lid. But I did put a mujin sticker on it, so everything is Fine.

Regardless, I definitely took way too much to the class - and everyone else had their stuff in tupperware and literal buckets so... I clearly let the anxiety take the wheel on this one.
