saw till v0

By late July 2025 I had acquired a number of saws - both Western and Japanese. I needed somewhere to put them that wasn't a pile on a filing cabinet, or hanging somewhat precariously on a wall for me to slice myself on.

I started off looking up plans, and general patterns for what might be useful to me. The core issue was my little office closet didn't have much space to hang new cabinets on the wall, but I figured at least they'd be in one place, and if I ever did get a bigger space they could live on the wall there. It took about a month.

I started off with a box, a rod, and a dream.

This project is where I learned I really hated the Demon Router (palm/trim router.)

The sticker is from Mujin Makes.

Given my nature, I figured I would need some space for more saws, so I got a little ambitious. Again - educational about the limits of material, and though I didn't know it at the time, the importance of grain direction. Lots of glue I didn't really clean up. I wasn't planning on finishing this piece - and didn't - so I didn't much care about the glue.

I gave it another go, this time trying to use the Demon Router and simply being less ridiculous with the number of slots. This wasn't the first on-the-fly jig I made, but it's close. It was ok.

I eventually added a flush saw holder to the side.

This project is still in use, and hangs on the wall at the shop now.
